Reviving Community Gems: A Tale of Grassroots Triumph
In the summer of 2023, Merlin Cinemas acquired two ex-Odeon heritage sites and wanted to relaunch them and effectively communicate their brand and offer.
TISH - Audience Development
Tish Murtha was a pioneering photographer who chronicled working-class communities from her hometown in Newcastle to the streets of Soho in the 70s and 80s. TISH opened the Sheffield Documentary Film Festival in 2023. Mustard Studio worked with the distributor Modern Films on partnerships, engagement and outreach.
Dance Revolutionaries
The Yorke Dance Project, an award-winning independent dance company, produced a film version of Kenneth Macmillan’s Sea of Troubles and wanted to explore how they could take this project to cinemas as well as an earlier film created of Robert Cohan’s Seven Portraits, a series of dance solos filmed at stunning locations.
Living Room Cinema -Sustainability
The Living Room Cinema (LRC) takes its role in the local and wider cinema communities seriously, including the desire to understand its carbon footprint and join businesses worldwide with an action plan to reduce its impact. With concerns about the climate crisis and the damaging effects of business on nature and a particularly holistic view of social impact and governance, LRC’s biggest challenge was knowing where to start.
Regent Street Cinema
Regent Street Cinema is a one-screen venue in central London, and since it opened in 2015, it has created different audience propositions as it seeks to establish its identity.
